Must campers wear a camp T-shirt every day?
Yes, we require all campers to wear a Camp Gan Israel Seattle T-shirt each day.  Every camper receives one T-shirt during the first week of camp. Since all camp staff and campers wear camp shirts, we're instantly recognizable to each other.

How does my camper find a lost item?
Please mark all belongings with your child's name. This is very important since shirts, backpacks, etc., are identical and individual items are difficult to identify without a label. Please contact us at [email protected] regarding specific items lost.

How does the transportation system work?
Camp Gan Israel Seattle uses its own bus for field trips. Campers must remain seated at all times.

What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper will be forced to participate in any activity. However, we do urge campers to try all activities and take advantage of the complete program offered at Camp Gan Israel Seattle.

How religious is Camp Gan Israel?
CGIS is a non-judgmental environment made up of campers from all Jewish backgrounds. An individual's level of observance is not stressed. All children enjoy a shared Jewish experience through songs, projects, and stories.

Can my camper bring a precious item to camp?
We do not permit your camper to bring jewelry, I-pads, expensive toys, etc., to camp. Camp Gan Israel Seattle supplies everything campers may need.

What does my camper need to bring each day?
Campers need a bathing suit and towel each day, regardless of the weather.  They will also need to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. In addition, please apply sunscreen at home before bringing your child to camp.  A kosher lunch must be provided from home (see rules under “Lunch Program”).

How often does my child drink water at camp each day?
It is the campers' responsibility to bring a bottle filled with water each day. CGIS staff encourage water consumption throughout the day.

How old does my child need to be to attend Camp Gan Israel Seattle?
CGIS Boys & Girls Camp begins for campers aged 4 years (must be completely toilet trained) and up. CGIS Tiny Tots Camp accepts children from 18 months old.

How can I speak with my child's counselor?
A call to Rabbi Kavka 206-730-2775 will answer most questions. Since counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, contact Rabbi Kavka and he will make sure the counselor receives any messages and return your call as soon as possible.

How can I speak with the Camp Director?
The director is available to answer your questions and discuss your concerns, during camp hours and most evenings from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on his cell. Please feel free to call during these times or leave a message 206-730-2775.

Are we obligated to give a tip or gift to our child's counselor?

How can I become more involved with Camp Gan Israel Seattle?
The camp encourages parent involvement. If you are interested, please call or e-mail Rabbi Kavka.

Can I make payments for Camp tuition instead of paying in full?
When you register online, you may choose a credit card  or e-check payment plan. You may pay in installments. This is necessary because we must make sure we have secured the best staff and purchased all the materials in time for the start of camp.
